Radon

Radon is in the air we breathe, both indoors and out. Studies have found that prolonged exposure to this invisible, odorless gas can effect your lungs in much the same way smoking cigarettes can. Simply stated, radon exposure can increase the risk of lung cancer. Avoiding all exposure to radon is unlikely, but steps can be taken to reduce the risks. The most probable source of radon exposure is in your own home. This is certainly the case in Sparrow’s service area of Chicagoland and Northern Illinois.

Sparrow’s partnership Illinois’ leading radon measurement professionals, means you have access to the best and most convenient testing available. This is yours at a discounted price and you don’t have to lift a finger. Let us know and we’ll make all the arrangements.

The EPA recommends mitigation when radon levels test at 4.0 pCi/L or higher. A variety of measures can be used to reduce radon levels. Newer homes frequently have passive, underground systems that can easily be fitted with fans to depressurize the ground beneath the home. Even in older homes, various passive and active mitigation systems can be utilized to lower radon levels in your living spaces. We always recommend that you have a qualified contractor evaluate and perform the work, as lowering high radon levels requires specific technical knowledge.

Send your address and we’ll respond promptly with an analysis of your area including the percentage of homes testing at 4.0 pCi/L or higher and the average reading in that area.
